THE PLAY

Out of the Frying Pan was written in 1940.  At the risk of stating the painfully obvious… things were a wee bit different back then.  We’re not sticking to a strict time in our version, in fact, we’re going anachronistic all over this thing, but the one thing that we won’t change, that we cannot change, is the feeling of the play.  This play is about good people doing good things for good reasons.  Sound familiar?  These days- not so much.  Entertainment tends to mimic social moods.  Even our comedies today are either cynical, political, or star Johnny Knoxville.  The days of laughing at the sweetness of humanity rather than our many foibles are mostly behind us, but for at least one evening, we invite you to laugh at six sweet kids, a friend, a landlady, a dad, a producer and two cops just trying their best to give the best to the people they love.  Sit back and enjoy a laugh from another time and at no one’s expense.

THE THANKS

So so so much thanks to the cast and crew for shouldering not only the lion’s share of the work on this show, but also shouldering the burden of a moody, distracted director for the latter month of this process.  These kids are as sweet and plucky as the characters they play.  Thank you!  Thanks to Mike Moffit for picking up the adult supervision slack on top of his terrific technical work.  Thanks to Mark Vorhoff for his valuable assistance on paint day.  Thanks to Scott Kendall for the use of the room, and he, Heidi Huckins, and Judy Herrington for departmental support.  Thanks to Phyllis Kreise for box office help. Thanks to Riley for furry support.  A special thanks to Squeak for hanging in there for one more show...  and a huge thanks to everyone at CWA for being there for Gen, Heidi, and I.
