Biography
I was born in a small coastal town in southern Mexico, though my family relocated to Mexico City when I was just three years of age. My parents were both of native Zapotec ancestry, of which I am very proud. I graduated in 1982 from Ignacio Manuel Altamirano Teachers College, which was located in Mexico City, Mexico. I have been teaching since 1983. I taught as an elementary school teacher in Mexico’s public school system until 1994, and then came to the U.S. to learn English at the University of Washington. I have since taught Spanish at Seattle Waldorf School, Seattle Country Day School, and Charles Wright Academy. I taught Spanish in the Middle and Upper Schools here at CWA for four years. I am privileged with the opportunity of developing and implementing the Lower School Spanish program.
Interests
I am passionate about Salsa dancing and Latin music. I enjoy spending time with my family, watching foreign films, eco-touring, camping, hiking, and kayaking.
