1st Grade Spanish
The purpose of this course is to build a solid foundation in the Spanish Language with an early focus on oral interaction. Beginning language courses must be engaging and exciting, many Total Physical Response (TPR) exercises will be used, and students will be engaged in listening and speaking activities. The course includes songs, games, stories, conversation, oral comprehension, vocabulary, and cultural awareness. A wide variety of activities and learning materials are used to enhance student learning.
Course Content
q Conversation includes practice in a variety of real-life situations, such as greetings, introductions, descriptions, the asking for and giving of information, and more.
q Basic vocabulary includes parts of the body, basic commands, classroom objects, days of the week, alphabet, greetings, prepositions, basic conversational phrases, colors, clothing, numbers 1-100, animals, and other general vocabulary.
Class Expectations
q Class participation includes working cooperatively with peers, full participation in class activities, respectfulness towards adults and peers, and applying knowledge and skills in class.
