Dear Parents:
In an effort to keep you informed about every homework assignment, this year in our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes, we will use an educational Internet site that will allow each student to print out vocabulary lists, play educational games, and take online quizzes to reinforce the material studied in the classroom.
I encourage you to participate with your child and take advantage of this easy-to-use technology that I really believe my students will enjoy and benefit from. Over the course of the year, I will make vocabulary lists your child should know for class and post them online every week so that he/she learns the new material in a fun and effective way.
Every time your child wants to access the site, he/she will be asked to provide his/her username and password to log in. Once your child prints out his/her vocabulary lists, encourage him/her to study the words carefully before completing the games and activities. This will help your child learn the material faster and assure his/her success when taking the online quizzes, which will be automatically scored to provide your child with instant feedback on his/her performance.
Finally, I want to make you aware of the fact that your child can use this educational site on either Windows or Macintosh, at no cost. I can also make arrangements for students with no Internet access or printer. Please contact me if you need assistance. I hope you and your child find this exciting tool useful in learning Spanish.
The site will be up and running by Monday, November 17, 2008. I have given the usernames and passwords to the homeroom teachers, who will pass the information along to you.
