Getting Started
- At the beginning of your project, plan to collect all your notes and bibliographic information in one place. Using a R.A.D. form will make this much easier. After you have chosen a good source of information, you will collect what you need for your bibliography BEFORE you begin taking notes.
- Some important bibliographic information includes:
- Author
- Book Title
- Journal (Magazine) Article Title
- Journal (Magazine) Title
- Date of Publication
- Publisher
- Journal (Magazine) Issue Number and Page Number
- Web Page Title
- Web Page Address
- Date the Web Page was Last Updated or Copyright Date
- Date you Viewed the Web Page
- ALWAYS follow your teacher's instructions for the final bibliography and make sure you cite every source you used to get ideas or information.
MLA Style Guide: (MLA is the bibliography style used by CWA)
Other Things to Remember:
- Always double space all the entries on your works cited page.
- Single space after periods.
- If you are using a resource that you don't know how to cite, copy down as much information as you can gather about the source (use the list at the beginning of this guide as a starting point) and then use an MLA handbook (you can find one in the library) or check with your teacher or librarian.
